GAIL's Seven Dials

Hospitality & Leisure

GAIL’s Bakery, renowned for its fresh handmade bread, pastries, and cakes baked daily, has recently opened a location in Brighton. To create a warm and inviting atmosphere, our Prismatics wall tile range was utilised extensively throughout the bakery. The tiles were featured on tables, the baker’s table, the coffee counter, and the walls.

The Victorian Green and Rice colourways were chosen for their perfect complementarity. The deep Victorian Green, used in various sizes, crafts a unique and eye-catching tile pattern along the counter, creating a striking visual centrepiece. In contrast, the creamy Rice hue adorns the walls behind, offering a soft and subtle backdrop that enhances the overall aesthetic. The glossy finish of these tiles contributes to a luxurious aesthetic, enhancing the bakery's charming and welcoming ambiance. This thoughtful design creates a visually pleasing environment for customers to enjoy their artisanal treats.

Designed by Cavendish Studios in London, they explained the concept behind the scheme: “For GAIL’s Seven Dials, we took inspiration from the unique architectural style of the building, similar to the iconic NY flatiron building, and wanted to respect its classical qualities while adding a modern scheme. Given the small space, we kept to a simplified scheme repeating a few details in the joinery and tiles patterns. The corner position of the building, with tall windows on both sides, and its unique wedge shape give the building high visibility and we felt a simple scheme would stand out the best. We used a pared back palette of deep green and cream, reminiscent of Victorian tiled interiors, applied in a contemporary style. Mixing gloss tiles with limewash painted walls and wood detailing adds texture to the simple colour palette.”

Made with up to 20% recycled content, the Prismatics tiles also offer good sustainability credentials. This environmentally friendly choice reflects a commitment to sustainability without compromising on the aesthetic appeal, ensuring that the bakery not only looks beautiful but also supports a greener future.

If you're in the area, be sure to pop in for a coffee and a baked treat!
