Colour Futures is made up of four key trends as well as the Colour of the Year, which is Cherished Gold in 2016. The Grid and Letting Go is arguably the most fun and certainly the most vibrant palette of the all the trends and has served as the key inspiration behind one of our current displays in the studio.
There is also solid reasoning behind the trend which goes deeper than just the aesthetic value of the chromic grouping, highlighting that it is born out of key factors that effect our lives in the here and now:
"Modern day technology has resulted in a basic human desire to go ‘off grid’ and distance oneself from the hustle and bustle of life. But freedom is only understandable within the context of a framework – you can’t break the mould if you don’t have a mould in the first place. Hence the colours in this palette are vivid and playful, yet they are still held back by the black and white of the grid. This trend also sees a number of graphical painting techniques at play to represent the grid."
