We're always eager to see what the design team at Giles Miller Studio has been up to. As surface material innovators go, they’re right up there with the very best and their latest output brings forward a beautiful new collection of, well, Collectibles .
The studio is well known for creating intricate and bespoke surface coverings that diffract and reflect light upon angled modules. The collectibles range shares the same technique but differs in terms of scale and construction. The first collection to be released, which is entitled ‘The Gregorian Series’ is made up of 12 unique design objects that each represent a different month.
Each framed piece consists of a set of miniature components that resemble a dentist’s mirror. These discs are engineered with precision in stainless steel, brass and copper and are mounted within the frame by the delicate arm. The result is stunning, with the mirrored circles simultaneously absorbing and reflecting their surroundings, creating a subtle pattern that changes with the light as the viewer moves around it.
They’ve already won an award at the recent Maison Objet in Paris, and we can see why! If you're interested in getting your hands on some or want to find out more about the studio, check out this link .
