Augustus Kotei is the man behind the sublime Augustus Deco. The studio specialises in resin coated decorative surfaces and wallcoverings. Abstracted imagery is embedded and protected by a layer of often metalised resin creating a truly unique and beautiful finish.

What three things can’t you be without when designing?

"Firstly, my primary tools: art brushes, metallic powders and epoxy resin. These are the most essential foundation products in the journey of my designs. I also can’t do much without my creativity and imagination.

"In addition to this, the substrates including aluminium composite, acrylic perspex, fibreboards, Welsh slates and clay tiles.

"Of course my hardware is vital, consisting of a scanner, an iPhone and 27” iMac computer that captures and allows me to see the creative results of my artwork."

What project that you’ve been involved with are you most proud of?

"Hollister clothing store in Elbe shopping centre, Hamburg. It was a challenge with so many specialist paint finishes, including the application of a multitude of wall coverings I had to apply. In addition to completing such a sophisticated project on schedule, the project has influenced me to produce my new collections of wall coverings for the residential and commercial industry."
