A light that dims when it loses its balance

12.09.2016

With the London Design Biennale looming, we're getting particularly excited about Viennese design duo Mischer'Traxler – otherwise known as Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler – and the launch of their unique mobile light installation.

Called LeveL to suit the event's main theme 'Utopia by Design', the structure of soft lights is attached to a delicate network of branches that unbalance if you happen to brush past any of them, and cause the lighting to dim.

Installed in a room at London's Somerset House, all of the lights reach their brightest luminosity when the whole structure enjoys perfect equilibrium. It follows on from the creative duo's recent Equilumen piece that distributes the same amount of light between two light sources.
