Basalt, a form of cooled lava, is a pretty abundant natural material found on and within the earth’s crust. It’s often used in bulky constructions including rail, road and dam structures but is generally not considered a beautiful material and is thus seldom visible or celebrated within design.
Dutch designer Jasper Rombouts wants to change this. Focusing upon the fact that Basalt is a material that can be endlessly melted and moulded he has created the Lava Wellness collection which champions this amazing material and opens up new possibilities for it’s potential applications in the future.
